The moon gives us light in the night but it is not a source of light on its own. It reflects the light of the sun like a mirror. Just in the same way we were created to be a reflection of God. We have no light or life for that matter in ourselves.
We don’t yet see things clearly. We’re squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won’t be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We’ll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us, knowing him directly just as he knows us! (1 Corinthians 13:12 MSG)
Our view of God us distorted, imperfect, and foggy. Therefore our reflection of him is often just as foggy. Like a bathroom mirror covered with smeared toothpaste or just after taking a hot shower. The more we draw near to him the more we become like him the clearer our reflection becomes.
